Tom Howell, President/Owner

Thanks for taking a minute to read my quick bio. After graduating from Rider University with a Finance degree, I spent a number of years working a few different jobs in Arizona. In 2000, I moved back to the East Coast and began working for Marathon Mortgage Services, Inc, where I learned this business from Bob Rubin, the founder of our company. Through my years at Marathon I met my wife at a local lunch spot (Quiznos) and have since adopted three children - Chace, Mason and Laney, born in that order.

At Marathon Mortgage I work primarily as a Loan Originator, helping clients choose the correct loan product and giving guidance from pre-qualification until settlement, often drawing on my finance background to give the correct advice. I absolutely love working with my clients and after close to 20 years in the industry, I know that I found the right profession.

At Marathon, we truly care about each other, our company and our clients and our #1 goal is to give the best home buying experience possible.

Mike Gulbinski

Mike has been part of the Marathon Mortgage family since 2004. He is a 1996 graduate of Rider University. As a Mortgage Consultant, Mike's role is to originate loans through the realtionships he has developed with Realtors as well as past clients. Flexiblity and understanding are the strengths that make Mike a superior Loan Officer. Yet, he prides himself on the level of service he provides his clients.

Mike has received numerous awards for his service in the business, as noted in Philadelphia Magazine's "Top Mortgage Professionals" and Angie's List "Super Service Award" listing to name a few.

Dan Strockbine

Dan has been working as a mortgage consultant since 2002. After 20+ years in the Information Technology industry, Dan has drawn on his customer service background in his effort to exceed his customers’ expectations at every turn. His low-key yet comprehensive approach to identifying his customers’ needs and matching those requirements with available loan programs has served his clients well over the past several years. Dan earned a BS in Education from Seton Hall University and an MBA from Drexel University.

Cathy Beck

Cathy joined the Marathon team in 2007. As a loan processor, she works with clients, real estate, title and insurance agents to be sure each loan meets lender underwriting requirements and is ready to close.

When Cathy isn’t busy with her three “almost grown up” kids, she likes to spend time at the beach, kayak and ride her bike. Her paralegal and undergraduate degrees are both from Villanova University.

Rory Farrell

Rory joined Marathon Mortgage in 2016 and has quickly become an important part of the team. Although he grew up in the area and attended Penn State University, he spent 10 years living in California working in sales, marketing and customer service-related industries. Rory's attention to detail, enthusiasm, communication, and approachability make him an excellent Loan Officer to work with - especially for first-time home buyers. His natural ability to connect with people allows his clients to feel confident and relaxed while making the biggest purchase of their lives.

After moving back to Pennsylvania in 2016, Rory and his wife Kelly bought their first home in Doylestown. Shortly after, they welcomed their daughter, Cassidy Ryan, in March 2018 and their son, Caden James, in February 2021. Rory keeps himself busy on the weekends traveling, surfing, rock climbing, hiking & brewing beer…that is, of course, when his kids let him…

JoAnne Howell

JoAnne dedicated many years of her professional career to her job as the Payroll Manager at Asplundh and after retirement, joined the Marathon team in 2015. JoAnne “wears many hats” and is a valuable part of our team - she handles payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, state licensing requirements, client follow up, and much more. Although she fits a lot of work into her part time schedule, she enjoys spending her time off traveling.

Michael Witczak

Mike is originally from northeast Philadelphia but was raised near the famous town of Jim Thorpe. After pursuing a degree in accounting from Penn State, Mike was given the opportunity to work with Marathon Mortgage to learn more about the financial sector. After working next to Tom as an intern and learning the ins and outs of the business, he knew this was the career for him. After graduation Mike gained his license and is now a full-time MLO. Mike is someone who is extremely easy to talk to, detailed, and willing to go the distance for you.

Courtney Farrell

Courtney joined the Marathon Mortgage team in early 2023 after she and her husband, Casey, welcomed their first child, a little boy named Kellen. If her last name sounds familiar, that’s because she is Rory Farrell’s sister-in-law!

Courtney has a diverse professional background and was introduced to this industry during her time as a title clerk. Here at Marathon, Courtney works as a loan processor, helping clients put together the required documentation to ensure their loan is clear to close. Her ultimate goal is to keep the homebuying process as stress-free as possible for her clients so they can focus on the exciting parts!

When she’s not at work, you can find Courtney at a local coffee shop or craft brewery, hiking, hanging out with friends and family or (most likely) watching trashy TV.
